Paradise Earth?

Does the Bible say that mankind will live on a Paradise Earth as the WT teaches?

The term “paradise earth” is nowhere to be found in the Bible. The word “paradise” is only mentioned three times in the Scriptures, all in the New Testament. Two with reference to the third heaven where Jehovah/Yahweh dwells (2 Cor. 12:1-7 and Rev. 2:5-7), and the last time Jesus speaks of paradise to the thief on the cross (Luke 23:43), referring to the paradise section of Hades [Sheol in Hebrew] which was still in existence until shortly after Christ’s death.

2 Cor. 12:1-7 (NWT) “I have to boast. It is not beneficial, but I will move on to supernatural visions and revelations of the Lord.  2 I know a man in union with Christ who, 14 years ago—whether in the body or out of the body, I do not know; God knows—was caught away to the third heaven. 3 Yes, I know such a man—whether in the body or apart from the body, I do not know; God knows—  4 who was caught away into paradise and heard words that cannot be spoken and that are not lawful for a man to say.  5 I will boast about such a man, but I will not boast about myself except of my weaknesses.  6 For even if I want to boast, I will not be unreasonable, for I would say the truth. But I refrain from doing so, in order that no one should give me more credit than what he sees in me or hears from me,  7 just because of receiving such extraordinary revelations.”

The third heaven is the same as paradise. (Got Questions?): “The word heavens can be used to refer to different realms. Heavens can refer to the sky and the earth’s atmosphere, making it the “first heaven” (Deuteronomy 11:11; Psalm 104:12; Isaiah 55:10). It can also refer to outer space, where the stars and planets are—the “second heaven” (Psalm 8:3; Isaiah 13:10). And it can refer to God’s dwelling place, which is beyond the other “heavens,” a place known as the “third heaven” (Psalm 33:13–14; Isaiah 66:1; Matthew 6:9; Hebrews 7:26; Revelation 11:19). When Paul says that he went to the third heaven, he means that he went to the place where God dwells.” (https://www.gotquestions.org/Paul-third-heaven.html)

Rev. 2:5-7 (NWT) “Therefore remember from where you have fallen, and repent and do the deeds you did at first. If you do not, I will come to you, and I will remove your lampstand from its place, unless you repent. Still, you do have this in your favor: that you hate the deeds of the sect of Nic·o·laʹus, which I also hate. Let the one who has an ear hear what the spirit says to the congregations: To the one who conquers I will grant to eat of the tree of life, which is in the paradise of God.

Luke 23:43 (NWT) And he said to him, “Truly, I say to you today, you will be with me in paradise.”

Note the comma placed after “today” rather than before it (as in all reliable English translations) by the Watchtower Society! (There was no punctuation in the original manuscripts.)

Here is Jesus, hanging on a cross (or stake as the WT would say), and He can barely breathe. He would have had to push up on the nail in His feet to try to get a good breath. And He adds the gratuitous word “today” before the WT’s comma. Obviously it is “today” when He is speaking.

However, when the meaning is that THIS VERY DAY the thief will be in paradise with Jesus, meaning that the thief’s soul would go directly to paradise at his death. At this point in time, the paradise (or Abraham’s bosom) section of Hades (Sheol in Hebrew) was his destination.

Paradise, therefore, is the bosom of Abraham section (Luke 16:22) in Sheol (Hebrew, Old Testament)/Hades (Greek, New Testament) and is also the place where Jehovah/Yahweh dwells. Both are places of rest and comfort for those souls who died in Christ, the former location for those who died before Christ’s death, the latter destination at some point soon after His death.

Some believe Christ visited the paradise section of Hades after His death and took the souls there to heaven, and others think they remain there until the resurrection of their bodies. (See the link below.)

The idea of paradise on earth can be seen in 2 Peter 3:10-13 and Rev. 21 when the earth is either cleansed to perfection or destroyed and recreated (scholars differ on this) and the heavenly New Jerusalem comes down to the perfected earth and Jehovah/Yahweh dwells among His people for all eternity.
