Beware of False Prophets!
When someone claims to be God’s prophet in these last days and is so presumptuous as to speak in God’s name, setting dates for Armageddon, dates that are not fulfilled, there can only be one conclusion …
Jesus warns us to watch out for false prophets (Matthew 7:15-22).
Jesus told us that in the last days there would be many false prophets who would appear and deceive many (Matt. 24:11, 24).
The beloved apostle John warned us “Not to believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see if they are from God, because many false prophets have gone into the world.” (1 John 4:1)
The apostle Paul never stopped warning Christians, day and night with tears. He knew that after he would leave a fellowship, savage wolves would come in among them and not spare the flock … distorting the truth, drawing away disciples after themselves. (Acts 20:29-31)
Paul was afraid that some would be led astray from their pure devotion to Christ. He said to beware of those who would come preaching a different Jesus, a different spirit, and a different gospel (2 Corinthians 11:3, 4).
Jehovah’s Witness Leadership is guilty on all three counts (ref. 2 Corinthians 11:2, 4):
- Their Jesus is a creation, an angel rather than our Creator (John 1:3).
- Their spirit is an “it,” an “active force” instead of the third person of the Godhead (2 Corinthians 3:17).
- Their gospel is that “works save” instead of being saved by the blood of the Lamb. (God’s grace Ephesians 2:8, 9)!
In regard to false prophecies,
… the Watchtower leaders have established an amazing record: 1874, 1914, 1915, 1918, 1925, 1940, 1975
Charles Taze Russell, Joseph Rutherford, Nathan Knorr, and Frederick Franz have proven to be false prophets. Their prophecies cannot be excused as “just mistakes” or “old light.” God’s true prophets did not have to erase their prophecies because their words were directly from God.
“New light” does not extinguish “old light.” God’s light is always the true light!
1 Samuel 3:19 tells us that “… none of Samuel’s words fell to the ground.”
Watchtower followers claim to be witnesses of “Jehovah.”
Sadly, the name Jehovah is an erroneous rendering of the Hebrew name of God, YHWH.
Christians honor the New Testament teaching of the apostles that Jesus is the name above all names (Philippians 2:9, 10) and that there is not another name by which we can be saved. (Acts 4:12)
Jesus’ last words before ascending to heaven (Acts 1:8) were that His followers would receive power when the Holy Spirit came upon them and they would be witnesses of Him.
The name Jehovah did not even exist until 1270 AD when Raymundus Martini, a Catholic monk, invented it.
Let’s consider “He who endures till the end will be saved.”
Christians know that true children of God will be “kept strong to the end.” (1 Corinthians 1:8) No one or nothing can separate us from the love of Christ (Romans 8:35-39).
Believers can never perish (John 3:16). Jesus said, “…no one can snatch them out of My hand.” (John 10:28) We cannot be condemned. We have crossed from death to life. (John 5:24) Believers are “sealed” by the Holy Spirit (Ephesians 1:13, 14), kept from falling by Jesus Christ (Jude 1, 24). We are children of God who receive an inheritance that can never perish, spoil, or fade, kept in heaven for us. (1 Peter 1:4 5)
We know that any who “went away from us, did not really belong to us.” (1 John 2:19)
True believers are written in the Book of Life and no one can blot their names from it. (Revelation 3:5, also Luke 10:20 & Daniel 12:1) At 1 Peter 5:10 God tells us that we have been called to eternal glory in Christ. He makes us strong, firm and steadfast.
Believers are confident and know that they have been given the free gift of eternal life (John 5:11-13). We are safe “in Christ.” We are God’s possession, born again followers of Jesus Christ.
Now, what about “the faithful and wise servant”?
The Watchtower leaders have proven to be neither “wise” nor “faithful.” Their doctrines are false and not defendable. Their date setting has never been anything but false.
If Watchtower members knew the abysmal history of their leaders and their organization, they would never remain Jehovah’s Witnesses.
We Christians love them and pray for them. We do not blame the followers, they have been masterfully deceived by the father of lies and the Watchtower leadership.
Regarding God’s kingdom,
Jesus spoke clearly that we must “… be born again to see the kingdom of God” (John 3:3-7).
In John 7:37-39 Jesus says, “Whoever believes in Me … streams of living water will flow from within him.” By this He meant the Holy Spirit. Jesus’ last words before ascending into heaven were that His followers would receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon them (Acts 1:8).
Paul wrote that we are the temple of the living God and that the Holy Spirit lives in the believers (1 Corinthians 3:16, 17).
John wrote that everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God (born again). That means all believers, not just the 144,000 (1 John 5:1). Jesus is the mediator for all, not just the 144,000 (1 Timothy 2:5, 6).
The Watchtower’s misuse of the word “world” … “Christians are not to be part of this world.”
1 John 2:15 says that “the world means the cravings of sinful man, the lust of his eyes, and the boasting of what he has and does.” It does not mean that Christians shouldn’t contribute to the culture where they live. Christians are a blessing to their communities, sharing the gospel, feeding the poor, voting godly people into office here in the USA.
Can we imagine how much worse things would be today if no children of God participated in the local, state and federal government here in America? Believers in Jesus Christ can not allow the ungodly to be the only ones voting or seeking political positions. Jehovah’s Witnesses enjoy the privileges of our free country, but they do not contribute to it. Is that loving God and neighbor?
Salvation and eternal life:
Christians follow Jesus and are saved through God’s grace, mercy, kindness and love — not by works (Ephesians 2:4-10).
We are saved through the blood of Jesus Christ — not through human effort (Galatians 3:3).
Christians share the gospel and live Godly lives because they are saved — born again children of God, indwelt by the Holy Spirit. They do not preach to get saved.
Jesus is our Savior. Our works are like filthy rags. We cannot save ourselves by so called “good” works.
We know that all who are “in Christ” are a new creation! The old is gone, the new has come (2 Corinthians 5:17). A changed life for God is only possible through the second birth, God living in us.
Jesus said, “I’ve chosen you, you did not choose Me. I have appointed or ordained you to bear fruit, fruit that will last” (John 15:16).
Jehovah’s Witnesses are under the misconception that they are God’s voice.
They do not spread the gospel. They do not even know what the gospel is!
1 Corinthians 15:1-4 declares the gospel of first importance – the gospel that saves – the gospel that Paul preached. That gospel is, that our sins are forgiven by the blood of Jesus – that Jesus lived, died and was resurrected and that He is our living Savior.
How tragic that the Watchtower has demoted Jesus to being an angel instead of being the Creator of angels and “all things.” They have demoted God the Holy Spirit to being a force. They have been preaching a gospel of “salvation by works,” if you do enough.
Their gospel is “do, do, do” but Jesus said, “It is done.” Our salvation was complete on the cross of Jesus Christ. That was enough, He did it all.
God’s wrath was satisfied toward believers by Jesus’ blood. He was the perfect Lamb of God who takes away our sins. He is our Redeemer. All our sins were nailed to His cross on Calvary. “He who had no sin, became sin for us.”
Also know this, Christians don’t study the Bible to get saved (John 5:39, 40).
They study the Bible because they love God and “are saved” and want to know Him better, personally and intimately. “God’s Spirit testifies with our spirit that we are His children, heirs of His kingdom” (Romans 8:16).
The important question is this: Do you have a personal relationship with Jesus? Have you come to Him (Matthew 11:28-30)? Have you met Him as your Lord and God (John 20:28)? Or, are you just following a religious organization?
And worse than that, are you following an organization led by false prophets, ones who teach false doctrine and who have set so many false dates??
Sadly, Jehovah’s Witnesses do not teach the truth.
Jesus is “the Way, the Truth, and the Life” (John 14:6). He asks for the same honor as the Father (John 5:23). He asks for the same trust (John 14:1). He receives the same worship (Greek: proskuneo). (Hebrews 1:6) Watchtower followers need to check the Greek!
We know that the “great commission” is being accomplished by born again Christians, not by false prophets – not by the Watchtower – not by Jehovah’s Witnesses, but by all the witnesses of Jesus (Acts 1:8).
In conclusion …
… if you are a Jehovah’s Witness, one who has been masterfully deceived, please know that Christians love you and are praying for your deliverance from the Watchtower slavery.
May the Lord open your heart to “come to Jesus” for eternal life – not to an “organization.”
Please put Watchtower literature aside and read the Word of God. Learn the truth about Jesus, the Holy Spirit, the gospel and also become familiar with the truth of Watchtower history.
May you receive Jesus Christ as your personal Savior and be filled with the Holy Spirit.
We pray that you will receive God’s peace, joy and rest.
It’s time to answer His call to come to Jesus, the good Shepherd. Jesus said…
“I am the good shepherd; I know my sheep and my sheep know me — just as the Father knows me and I know the Father — and I lay down my life for the sheep.”
John 10:14-15
Will you follow Jesus and be one of His sheep (John 10:27)? Or, will you continue to follow an organization led by prophets and teachers who have been proved false? Jesus invites His lost sheep to come to Him.
“Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart; and you shall find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and My load is light.”
Matthew 11:28-30
