Why Christians Meet Together

“You are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His wonderful light.” –1 Peter 2:9

Encouraging one another to love and live for God.
Hebrews 10:24, 25 – Spur one another on in love and good deeds! Devote yourself to public reading of scripture, to preaching and teaching.

Growing in oneness with God.
Ephesians 1:17 – Encourage, pray, and help one another to know God better and to have the eyes of our hearts enlightened. Grow together in personal relationship with our Lord–be one with God!

Learning God’s Word and how to share it.
Matthew 10:8 – Freely you have received, freely give.  Go Make disciples, be workmen who handle the word of God aright.  Be eager students of God’s Word.  Be a “boot camp” for Jesus!

Singing, praising, worshiping and glorifying God.
Colossians 3:16 – Sing Psalms, hymns, and songs, worshiping, praising and glorifying our God!

Communing, thanking, remembering God’s mercy & grace on Calvary.
Acts 2:42 – Breaking bread together, remembering what our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ, did for us on the Cross.  He bore our sins in His body!

Devoting ourselves to prayer for one another.
1 Thessalonians 5:16 – Pray thankfully and humbly for one another.  Be faithful in prayer.  Confess your sins to one another.  The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective!

Training one another to defend the faith.
1 Peter 3:15 – Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for your hope.  Be witnesses of Jesus whenever and wherever the Holy Spirit leads us!

Warning one another of dangerous apostasies & destructive heresies.
Acts 20:31 – Sound out God’s warnings to watch out for false prophets, false teachers, and false doctrine!

Sharing your gifts of the Spirit with one another.
1 Corinthians 12:4-11 – Verse 7 says, “Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good.”

Gathering in joyful assembly, fellowship of the Saints.
Acts 2:42  – Be devoted to fellowship. How good and pleasant it is when brothers live together in unity.
